~Emergency Admission~ Tuesday 13th August
This evening we accepted these two little piggies who had been discovered by a good samaritan walking his dog. They’d been left in a hutch at the end of a recreational ground with some mouldy hay and no water or food How can anyone do that?
They are lucky to be alive.
They are boys and I’m guessing around one year old. What shall we call them?
They are so happy now that they are in a safe place with plenty of hay and proper food. Goodness knows how they coped in yesterday’s 30° heat
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, please if you can’t cope with your pets go to a rescue and if you’re going to resort to cruelly dumping them at least leave outside a Vet’s or somewhere they will be discovered quickly!

Great news for Rascal who has been adopted into a loving family

Rascal now has a lovely companion in the form of Cookie – also adopted through AGPR

Coco has bonded with CB and they are now living the perfect life together
Available July 2024

Bandit & Rebel
The wildest of our Wild Boys were neutered earlier this week by Tanya from Kriek and Gibson Vets in Banstead Both boys sailed through the procedure and are making good, steady progress. They are still shy but slowly gaining confidence. I am looking for experienced guinea pig lovers to foster them individually for a few weeks to give them 121 attention so we set them on the path for a wonderful, happy life in new homes for the Summer! Foster carers need to be local to Ashtead. I can provide everything required for their care. Please do let me know if you are interested – they are a challenge but very lovely.

Jinx & Rascal
These two older fellas from the Wild Boys intake were neutered yesterday at the wonderful Kriek and Gibson Vets in Banstead Rascal, being a bit younger bounced back from his little procedure and started eating as soon as he came round – always a good sign! Jinx, who we now believe is a more mature gentleman, took longer to get going so he was helped along with hand fed critical care which he loves! This morning both are out and about looking for their breakfast. They will spend the next few days quietly and on puppy mats so we can keep a close eye on them.

Update on the four boars dumped in a cardboard box by a busy road. The two older boys are Rascal (albino fluffy!) and Mr Jinx. Jinx has gone into foster care with one of my amazing foster carers & volunteers. He has settled quickly into the routine and loves cuddles. His bite scars are healing nicely. Rascal has become much braver now he isn’t competing with other boars and has a very loud, demanding wheek everytime he hears the kitchen door open His fighting wounds are still evident especially across his rump but none appear serious
Bandit & Rebel are sharing a large hutch and are still very wild but they are beginning to poke their noses out when fresh food is on offer which is a positive sign. I have a strong feeling that as they become braver so their tolerance of each other will become less! They are showing signs of irritation already but thankfully no new wounds. Their old fighting scars are healing and I’m keeping a close eye on them. At the moment I’m not forcing the handling situation as they are taking their time to settle.
Thank you everyone for your support. You have raised funds that will cover all four boars’ castrations. So I will make arrangements to have them sorted soon in preparation for their new lives
🐹 The Wild Boys!🐹 12/6/24
So here with their very own post are the four boars, Rascal, Bandit, Rebel & Jinx who were discovered dumped in a tiny card box next to a busy road in Reigate. Unsurprisingly, they had been fighting and were very hungry, thirsty and scared on arrival. Some of their injuries were older than a few days so it looks like they have been fighting in their previous home either with each other or with other guinea pigs 😟 My question is WHY? Why have well fed guineas obviously being kept in crowded conditions where they are fighting? Why dump them? Why not ask a Rescue for help or at the very least leave them at a local Vets? I will never understand some people 😡
